Diamond Boys Week 1 (June 1-June 7)

It was an exciting week for everyone associated with Diamond Boys Baseball as we finally returned to the field for real live games. Each week during the season we will send out some of the top team and individual performances so that everyone in the DB Family can see all the success we are having across all age groups. 

 

Top Team Performances

1. Rawlings DB Select 13u went 4-1 in the Bring The Heat tournament, taking home 2nd place after playing 3 games on Sunday.

 

2. Diamond Boys 12u (Dalton/Masetta) went 4-1 in the Bring The Heat tournament, taking home 2nd place after coming up just short, 4-3, in the championship game.

 

3. Diamond Boys 17/18u Showcase went 4-0 in their opening weekend Round Robin. The pitching staff led the way with a 1.29 ERA and 35 K in 27 IP.

 

Top Individual Performances

1. 17/18u Showcase RHP Jake Pentasuglio (University of Dayton) picked up a complete game win against a very talented IVL team. Jake threw 7 innings giving up no earned runs, 4 hits and striking out 13 batters. He finished the week throwing 9 innings, giving up 6 hits, 1 ER and 17 K.

 

2. 12u (Dalton/Masetta) MIF Jagger Dalton picked up where he left off following his 2019 DB Youth Player of the Year season. In their opening weekend, Jagger went 8-9 with 3 2B, 7 RBI, 6 R, 5 BB and 0 K. He also stole 5 bases.

 

3. 17/18u RHP Brian Roscoe (Lourdes University) - the reigning 2019 DB Pitcher of the Year - threw 9 innings, giving up 7 hits, 1 ER and striking out 10 for a 0.78 ERA. Since joining the Diamond Boys in 2018, Brian owns a career 1.42 ERA -- only 27 ER over 133.1 innings pitched -- including a no-hitter and multiple 1-hitters.

 

4. 10u Austen Terrano went 6-7 with 2 2B, 5 RBI, 2 R and a stolen base.

 

5. 10u pitcher Ryan Dahringer threw 3.1 shutout and hitless innings, striking out 9.

 

6. 13u Blue teammates Ethan Slagle and Bryce Ewing had great weekends. Ethan went 4-6 with 2 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB. Bryce went 5-8 with a 3B, HR, 3 RBI, 5 R, 2 BB and 2 SB.

 

7. 13u Rawlings Select's Nathaniel Coates went 7-12 with 2 2B, HR, 3 RBI, 5 R, 2 BB and 5 SB.

 

8. 13u Rawlings Select RHP Harper Lann was dominant, throwing 6.1 innings and giving up only 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB and 12 K. His teammate, Isaiah Andrews, struck out 10 batters in 5 innings.

 

9. 14u Showcase OF/1B Mark Filippelli set the tone for the offense. Mark went 6-13 with 2 2B, 4 RBI, 5 R and 3 SB. 

 

10. 14u Showcase RHP Jimmy Stachowski threw 5.1 dominant innings, giving up only 2 hits, 0 ER, 1 BB and 11 K.

 

11. For 17/18u Showcase, the 3-4-5 lineup combo of college-commits Jake Peebles (Walsh University), Brian Roscoe (Lourdes University) and Brandon Albright (John Carroll) led the way for the team's 4-0 weekend. Jake was 6-12 with a 2B, 2 RBI, 1 R, 2 BB, Brian was 4-9 with a 2B, 3 RBI, 1 R, 3 HBP, 2 BB and 2 SB and Brandon was 5-12 with 3 2B, 3B, 1 RBI, 5 R and a SB.

 

-12u (Zaborszki) bats got off to a hot start, hitting .438 as a team. No one got off to a hotter start than Cason Dilulio and Anthony Webb. Cason went 6-8 with a 2B, 3 RBI, 5 R, 2 BB and 2 SB. Anthony went 6-11 with 3 2B, 7 RBI, 3 R and 2 SB.
